Given
Our
Dream
How did the idea of "Buckets" come about?
It
actually started as a thought of “What do we do with our life”?
We were searching for the significance of our existence, and how we
could help others along the way. We both knew we wanted to do
something, but unsure what it was…we turned to God for guidance. God
lead both of our hearts to the same place, without our knowledge!
Who are “we”?
We
are people from different walks of life, yet God made our spirits
connect in the most intense way. We have a common bond…and that is
believing God and wanting others to do the same!
Why so much focus on children
for an adult gift?
Because they appreciate the simplicity of life, without getting bogged
down with the complexities of their surroundings!
How did the idea of an
“empty” bucket come about?
God planted the idea of the name “Bucket of Blessings” in our mind.
We both heard the call, but were unsure what should be in the bucket.
After many hours of brainstorming…we realized that, that is the exact
message we wanted to spread…simplicity. We are always trying to
“fill” things up, rather than appreciate exactly what we already
have…and that is ourselves and God!
Why a mirror in the bottom of
the “bucket”?
The mirror symbolizes
exactly who we are! We can put on all sorts of masks, and hide our
true feelings, but when we look in a mirror, we cannot hide from the
reflection. The mirror symbolizes our true self…not what we look like
on the outside, but who we are on the inside. That is why the mirror
is “inside” the bucket.
Besides God, who has been our
greatest influence?
Our husbands, our children, our
families and
our “circle of friends”. Without any of them, this project would have
never gotten off the ground. God has blessed us with these gifts and
put them to use in so many ways in our lives.
Why did we choose the charities
we did?
This is one example of how God
worked in this project. We knew we wanted to donate to a charity, but
we didn’t know which one. We were at the store one day, and there was
literally a sign on the wall leading us to our
decision! We chose each color ribbon to represent children in need in
some way. We feel that children are our greatest gift on earth, and
we need to cherish and protect them.
What do the different color
ribbons represent?
Each ribbon represents the
meaning of the bucket and the charity that 10% of the proceeds of that
bucket will go to.
Purple is for COURAGE and
proceeds go to Children with Disabilities
Pink is for HOPE and proceeds go
to Breast Cancer
Blue is for PEACE and proceeds
go to Child Abuse
Yellow is for WISDOM and
proceeds go to Childhood Cancer
Green is for THANKS and proceeds
go to Organ and Tissue Donation
Who drew the pictures on the
tags?
We have 5 children between us,
ages 7 through 11. Each child has a God given talent to express
themselves in an artistic manner. We randomly chose a bucket name for
each of the five children, and told them to describe what they thought
that word meant in their own way. Ironically, each bucket was a
perfect fit for each of the children's individual personality.
